Palomar Advances to Super Regionals with 12-7 Game Three Victory Over Pasadena City College

SAN MARCOS, CA (5/3/2025) -- Palomar College baseball is heading to the 2025 Super Regionals after a thrilling 12-7 victory in Game 3 of their Southern California Regional series against Pasadena City College. After dropping the opening game, the Comets bounced back in Game 2 to force a decisive Game 3, and they delivered when it mattered most, clinching the series and advancing to their third Super Regionals in four seasons.

In Game 1, Palomar fell 6-4 to Pasadena City College. The Comets got off to a slow start, managing just four hits, while Pasadena capitalized on a five-run fifth inning to pull ahead. Despite a late rally, including an RBI from Drake Cobb and a solid effort from Joey Navarro on the mound, Palomar couldn't quite catch up, and Pasadena held on for the victory.

However, Game 2 saw a much stronger performance from the Comets. With their backs against the wall, Palomar responded with a 7-4 win, forcing a Game 3. Justin Tucker and Drake Cobb came through with key hits, and the Comets took advantage of some timely base running and defensive plays. Palomar's pitching staff, including Michael Getzinger, kept Pasadena from getting comfortable, and the offense took control, scoring early and holding the lead throughout the game.

Game 3 saw Palomar erupt offensively, putting up 12 runs on 12 hits. The Comets were led by Drake Cobb, who finished the game with 3 RBIs, and Adrian Macias, who homered and drove in 3 RBIs. Braedon Peterson-Cheek also added an RBI and scored twice. The strong offensive showing, paired with a solid relief effort from Chance Crawford, who earned the win with 2 innings of scoreless pitching, helped Palomar seal the victory.

Brandon Bollerer started the game, going 3.2 innings, and Mason Garris came in to close the game with a strong performance, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 5 in 2.1 innings. The Comets' pitching staff was crucial in keeping Pasadena's offense at bay, with Joey Halter also contributing 1 inning of shutout ball.

With the series win, Palomar advances to the Super Regionals, where they will play host to Riverside City College and San Diego Mesa College. The Super Regionals will begin Thursday, May 8, with Riverside and Mesa facing off in Game 1. Palomar will play the loser of that game in their next matchup.
