Palomar College Baseball Completes Regular Season with 17-3 Victory Over Imperial Valley

SAN MARCOS, CA (April 25, 2025) – Palomar College baseball capped off a stellar regular season with a resounding 17-3 win over Imperial Valley College on Friday afternoon at Bob Vetter Field. With the victory, the Comets finish the regular season with a 30-10 record, including a 21-4 mark in conference play. The Comets have now set their sights on the postseason, with the 3C2A SoCal Regionals set to begin on May 2 at 2:00 p.m.
The Comets' offense was in full swing, posting 17 runs on 14 hits. Drake Cobb and Adrian Macias led the charge, each blasting a home run. Macias drove in five RBIs, while Cobb added two RBIs to his tally. Brendan Shanahan also contributed significantly with two RBIs and a perfect 2-for-2 performance at the plate.
Joshua Pinnell had a standout performance, going 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs, helping to extend Palomar's commanding lead. Meanwhile, Jordan Treadwell, Gavin Malcomson, and Carter Jorissen also delivered key hits and RBIs to solidify the offensive onslaught.
On the mound, Joey Navarro was dominant, earning the win after tossing seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out seven. His performance kept the Imperial Valley batters off balance throughout the game. Michael Getzinger and Noah Benavides also saw action in relief, with both pitchers finishing the game strong and limiting Imperial Valley's chances to come back.
Imperial Valley showed some fight, scoring three runs, including a home run from Jesus Arreola, but Palomar's early scoring burst and late inning runs proved too much to overcome. Seth Johnson also added a home run for the visitors, but Palomar's depth in both hitting and pitching secured the win.
With the regular season now complete, the Comets are preparing for their postseason run, with the playoff seeding meeting set for Sunday. Palomar enters the postseason as one of the top teams in the state, looking to carry their momentum into the 3C2A SoCal Regionals next week.
