Palomar College Baseball Triumphs 19-11 Over Imperial Valley in High-Scoring Battle

IMPERIAL VALLEY, CA (April 24, 2025) – Palomar College baseball completed a dominant performance on the road Thursday afternoon, defeating Imperial Valley College 19-11 in a game full of explosive offense and impressive individual performances. The Comets' victory marks their second consecutive win in the series and improves their overall record to 29-10, with a 20-4 mark in conference play.

Palomar's offense came alive once again, collecting 17 hits and scoring in nearly every inning. Drake Cobb led the charge with two RBIs, while Gavin Malcomson continued his strong run, driving in four runs with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate. Justin Tucker added a home run to the mix, contributing to a strong offensive attack that overwhelmed the Imperial Valley pitchers.

The Comets set the tone early, scoring two runs in the first inning and another in the second before exploding for nine runs in the sixth inning, which proved to be the turning point of the game. Rainn McMillan and Adrian Macias also delivered crucial hits, each finishing with two RBIs. With contributions from nearly every hitter in the lineup, Palomar was able to pull away in a game that saw 30 combined runs scored.

On the mound, Ian Mowad earned the win, throwing five innings while allowing just two runs on five hits and striking out three. He was supported by strong relief appearances from Jacob Imoto and Pete Knorr, though a rough seventh inning saw Lucas Smith and Peyton Perry surrender a few runs. Despite the hiccups, the Comets' offense proved more than enough to seal the victory.

Imperial Valley mounted a strong challenge, plating two runs in the third and adding another two in the sixth, but they couldn't keep pace with Palomar's offensive onslaught. Jesus Arreola and Nicholas Brownyard were bright spots for the hosts, combining for five RBIs in the game.

This win continues Palomar's push toward postseason play and further cements their place at the top of the conference standings. The Comets will look to complete the series sweep tomorrow, Saturday, April 26, in the final game of the three-game series.
