Palomar Clinches Series with 10-6 Win Over San Diego City
SAN MARCOS, CA (4/17/2025) -- No. 7 Palomar College used a dominant early offensive surge to power past San Diego City College, 10-6, on Thursday afternoon at Bob Vetter Field, clinching the three-game series.
The Comets (26-10, 17-4 PCAC) scored nine runs over the first three innings, including a six-run second that broke the game open. Every batter in the lineup reached base, and the team combined for 11 hits and 10 RBIs, while also drawing 10 walks.
Braedon Peterson-Cheek led the offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two walks. AJ Klubeck added two hits, two RBIs, a walk, and a stolen base. Carter Jorissen, Justin Tucker, Drake Cobb, Adrian Macias, and Jordan Treadwell each drove in a run as part of a complete team effort.
On the mound, Ian Mowad (4-3) earned the win, tossing seven innings and allowing five earned runs on 13 hits while striking out four. Peyton Perry and Joey Halter combined to pitch the final two innings, with Halter recording the final two outs.
The Comets will wrap up the series on Friday afternoon at Morley Field in San Diego, looking to complete the sweep.
