No. 15 Palomar Sweeps Imperial Valley to Close Out First Round of Conference Play

The No. 15-ranked Palomar College baseball team continued its dominance in conference play, sweeping Imperial Valley College with a 15-1 road victory on Tuesday followed by a 12-5 win at home on Thursday. The Comets (17-7, 9-1 PCAC) sit alone in first place as they conclude the first round of conference action.

The Comets controlled the series opener from the start, using a balanced offensive attack and dominant pitching to rout the Desert Warriors.

Palomar broke the game open in the third inning, scoring three runs before adding another in the fourth. The Comets then erupted for five runs in the seventh and four more in the ninth, taking advantage of 10 walks and six hit battersissued by Imperial Valley's pitching staff.

Brandon Bollerer (W, 4-0) was outstanding on the mound, tossing six shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out seven. The bullpen took care of the rest, as Michael Getzinger, Landon Elliott, and Noah Benavidescombined for three innings of one-run relief.

Game 2: Palomar 12, Imperial Valley 5

The Comets finished the sweep in dominant fashion at home, using a six-run fourth inning to seize control early. TK Madera delivered the biggest hit of the game, crushing a three-run triple, while Justin Tucker and Adrian Macias added RBI hits to extend the lead.

On the mound, Ian Mowad (W, 3-2) was electric, striking out eight over six innings while allowing just three unearned runs. Chance Crawford and Landon Elliott combined to finish off the game, allowing just two runs over the final three frames.

Looking Ahead

With the sweep, Palomar improves to 17-7 overall and 9-1 in PCAC play, holding sole possession of first place in the conference. The Comets will now step out of conference play for a non-conference matchup against Glendale College on Friday afternoon at Bob Vetter Field.
