Fourteen baseball players sign with four-year schools

SAN MARCOS, CA (8/1/2019) – Since the end of the baseball season, 14 Comets have signed with four-year universities. Eight of the 14 have signed with Division I schools, two with Division II schools, one with a Division III and three with NAIA schools.

Trevor Omahen signed with High Point University. The sophomore Comet played in 36 games this past season. He scored 34 runs and had 29 RBIs.

Justin Folz played in 34 games for the Comets this past season and had two home runs. The sophomore has signed with St. Johns University as an infielder. Folz scored 34 runs and batted in 19 runs.

Hayden Hastings and Braden Olthoff both signed with Tulane University. Hastings was a catcher for the Comets. On the offensive side, he had 25 runs and 20 RBIs, with two home runs on the season. Olthoff was a pitcher for the Comets. In 16 appearances, he had 75 strikeouts in 68 innings pitched. He was 6-1 and 2.51 ERA.

Jack Moberg has signed with UC Irvine. He played in 15 games for the Comets and had three runs and two RBIs.

Everhett Hazelwood signed with Kansas. As a pitcher, he had 11 appearances and an ERA of 3.38. In 64 innings pitched, he recorded 69 strikeouts.

Jorge Murillo was a pitcher for the Comets. He has signed with Hope International University (HIU). He had 14 appearances last season and recorded 10 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched. He had an ERA of 1.50 and was 2-1. Sam Miller also signed with HIU. As a pitcher, Miller had three appearances where he pitched 4.2 innings and recorded three strikeouts. He had one save.

Matt Ornelia signed with Lewis and Clark State College. He played in 21 games for the Comets this past season. He scored 10 runs and had seven RBIs.

Adrian Collazo signed with CSU Monterey Bay. In the 34 games he played this past season, he scored 26 runs and had 22 RBIs. He had one home run and three stolen bases.

Andrew Reitmeyer signed with Houston Baptist. As a pitcher, he had 16 appearances and an ERA of 1.13. In 24 innings pitched, Reitmeyer recorded 44 strikeouts. He was 1-2 and recorded three saves. Jared Burch, a freshman, also signed with Houston Baptist. Burch played in 21 games and had two home runs. He had 12 runs and nine RBIs.

Mitchell Hayes has signed with Hawaii Pacific. The pitcher started 12 games for the Comets. He pitched 68.2 innings and had 33 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.41. He was 5-2.

Justin Miller signed with Williamette University. He had nine appearances where he pitched 10 innings and recorded five strikeouts and a 1.80 ERA. Miller was a freshman for the Comets this past season.
