Comets bounce back against Mesa and win series

SAN DIEGO, CA (4/25/2019) – Palomar bounced back from a first game loss and defeated San Diego Mesa 11-2 on Thursday.

Cameron Rowles (3-5) homered to right field in the fourth inning and again in the ninth inning. Derek Bostater (2-4) had a three-run homerun to left field in the seventh inning. Evan Ianniciello (2-5) also homered to left field in the ninth inning.

Micah Anselmo (2-4) singled to right field in the sixth inning for an RBI. Noah Hemphill (2-5) singled in the seventh inning for an RBI.

Braden Olthoff pitched seven innings and had 12 strikeouts, two walks and gave up three hits. Justin Miller pitched one inning and had one strikeout. Andrew Reitmeyer pitched 0.2 innings and had strikeouts, two walks and gave up two hits and two runs. Jorge Murillo pitched 0.1 inning and had one strikeout, one walk and gave up one hit.

 

 

SAN MARCOS, CA (4/26/2019) – The Comets took the series over the Olympians with a 17-7 win on Friday.

The Comets got their bats swinging in the second inning when Jaiston Cabatbat(4-4)  singled and was credited an RBI. With runners on first and third, Adrian Collazo (1-5) doubled and for one RBI. Trevor Omahen (3-5) batted next and singled, but got two RBIs when Cabatbat and Collazo scored.

In the seventh inning, the Comets scored seven runs. Noah Hemphill (4-6) doubled and scored Justin Folz (0-2). Matt Ornelia (2-2) singled and scored Hemphill while Mitchell Moralez (0-1) advanced to third. Braden Sanford (1-2) then doubled and brought Moralez, Ornelia and Jack Moberg (1-1) home. Kellen McCoy (1-1) had a single and an RBI and Hemphill collected another RBI, as did Evan Ianniciello (4-6).

On the pitching mound, Everhett Hazelwood pitched seven innings and had five strikeouts and one walk. He gave up four hits and one run. Justin Miller pitched one inning and gave up two hits and two runs. Gavin Kinney pitched 0.1 inning and had one walk, gave up three hits and four runs. Parker Askergreen pitched 0.2 innings and gave up one hit.

The Comets overall record is 26-11-1 and finished conference at 17-7.
