Baseball sweeps Mt. San Jacinto, extend win streak to five

HEMET, CA (4/19/2019) – Palomar swept Mt. San Jacinto, their second sweep of the season. They won on Tuesday 13-4, 15-3 on Wednesday and 12-1 on Friday. They will face San Diego Mesa for their final conference game of the season next week.

 

Tuesday: During Tuesday's game, both Hayden Hastings (2-4) and Cameron Rowles (1-4) homered for single home runs. Hayes also had a double in the ninth inning.

On the pitching side of things, Mitchell Hayes pitched three innings and gave up seven hits and three runs. Connor Zalewski pitched five innings and had four strikeouts, gave up six hits and one run. Andrew Reitmeyer pitched one inning and had two strikeouts and gave up one hit.

 

Thursday: Trevor Omahen (1-4) tripled in the sixth inning and was credited two RBIs. Evan Ianniciello (3-4) also tripled that inning and scored Noah Hemphill (3-6).

 In the eighth inning, both Matt Ornelia (1-1) and Adrian Collazo (1-1) doubled.

 Braden Olthoff pitched seven innings and had nine strikeouts and gave up four hits and two runs. Parker Askergreen pitched one inning and had one strikeout. Also pitching an inning was Justin Miller who gave up one hit and one run.

 

Friday: Everhett Hazelwood pitched seven innings and had 12 strikeouts. Parker Askergreen pitched one inning and has two strikeouts and gave up one hit. Gavin Kinney pitched one inning and had one strikeout.

Justin Folz (2-5) got things going in the first inning with a double and an RBI.

Derek Bostater (1-3) doubled in the third inning following a single by Evan Ianniciello (2-4). Later in the ninth inning, Jared Burch hit a single-run home run.

The Comets improved to 23-10-1 overall and 15-6 in conference play. They will face Moorpark on Saturday at 1 p.m.
