Comets drop game one of series against San Diego City

SAN DIEGO, CA (4/9/2019) – Palomar lost to San Diego City in ten innings, 5-4.

Down 2-0 going into the fourth inning, Evan Ianniciello (1-4) homered to left field to tie the game. In the sixth inning, Cameron Rowles (1-5) singled to right field and scored Justin Folz (1-3). Noah Hemphill (2-4) advanced to third. Mitchell Moralez (0-4) had a sacrifice fly to center field, but Hemphill got the run in. They were up 4-2 at the end of the top of the sixth.

Mitchell Hayes pitched 5.1 innings and had three strikeouts, six hits and three runs. Parker Askergreen pitched an inning and gave up two hits and a run. Andrew Reitmeyer pitched 2.1 innings and had five strikeouts and gave up three hits and one run.

The team is now 18-10-1 overall and 10-6 in conference play.

The Comets will be at home on Thursday for game two of the series. First pitch will be at 2 p.m.
