Comets start slow, but rally to beat IVC

SAN MARCOS, CA (4/7/2019) – Palomar beat Imperial Valley after a wild eighth inning 6-4.

Going into the seventh inning, the Comets were down 4-0. Evan Ianniciello (1-3) singled, bringing Trevor Omahen (1-3) to second and scoring Adrian Collazo (1-3).

In the eighth inning, with the bases loaded, Omahen was hit by a pitch and Mitchell Moralez (1-4) walked across the plate. Braden Sanford was on third, Collazo was on second, and Omahen was on first.

Justin Folz (1-5) then reached first on an error by the third baseman and Sanford scored. Following a strikeout, Ianniciello was then walked and Collazo walked the tying run across the plate. The bases were still loaded. Cameron Rowles (1-4) came up next and singled, bringing Folz and Omahen home, making the score 6-4.

On the pitching side for the Comets, Everhett Hazelwood pitched six innings and had seven strikeouts, seven hits and four earned runs. Parker Askergreen pitched 2.2 innings and had one strikeout and one hit.

The Comets will be on the road at San Diego City on Tuesday for the start of the series. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
