Baseball beats San Bernardino in game one of series

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/26/2019) – Palomar beat San Bernardino 15-2 in the series opener on Tuesday.

Mitchell Hayes pitched six innings and had five strikeouts and gave up five hits.

Justin Folz was 4-5 and had four RBIs. He homered in the third inning where he was credited two of the four. Noah Hemphill was 3-4 on the day with two runs and two RBIs.

The Comets scored nine runs in the sixth inning. The scoring frenzy started when Adrian Collazo was hit by a pitch and was credited an RBI. Trevor Omahen was on second and Matt Ornelia was on third when Hemphill singled and both scored. Folz was up next where he singled, but advanced to second on an error by the right fielder and Hemphill and Collazo scored.

Mitchell Moralez reached first base on an error by the third basemen and Evan Ianniciell0 advanced to second and Folz scored. Finally, Hayden Hastings had a sac fly to center field, but Iannciello scored making the score 10-1.

The team improved to 15-7-1 overall and 7-3 in conference play.

The Comets will be at San Bernardino for the second game in the series on Thursday. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
