Hot hitting helps Palomar defeat Southwestern

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/14/19) – Palomar defeated Southwestern College 12-4 on Thursday.

Palomar got their bats swinging in the second inning and scored two runs. They scored another two runs in the third inning and another two in the fifth. The Comets scored three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings.

All four of Southwestern's runs came in the seventh inning.

Third baseman Justin Folz had four hits, two RBIs and one run in his five trips to the plate. Designated hitter Adrian Collazo had four runs, two hits and one RBI. Right fielder, Matt Ornelia had three runs, two hits and two RBIs in his four at-bats.

Pitcher Braden Olthoff pitched seven innings and had two strikeouts, allowed three hits and four runs.

The Comets improved to 10-7-1 on the season and are 2-3 in conference play.

Palomar will be back in action on Saturday at Southwestern. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
