Comet alums keep rolling

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/6/2020) -- Comet alums Tim Hill, Nick Vincent and James Hoyt have made it to the NLDS relief pitching for the Padres and Marlins, respectively. In the Wild Card Series, Hill pitched one inning in a must-win game for the Padres. On a bullpen day, the Padres used the most pitchers in a nine-inning combined shutout since at least 1901, regular season or postseason. Hill pitched the second inning where he recorded one strikeout. 

The Marlins swept the Cubs to get to their spot. Vincent and Hoyt did not pitch in the Wild Card series. Miami started their best of five series against the Atlanta Braves Tuesday morning. Hoyt recorded 0.2 innings pitched where he allowed a home run. 

The Marlins will continue their series on Wednesday at 11:08 a.m. P.S.T. The Padres will start their series Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
