Women's Track Competes at the Arnie Robinson Invitational

SAN MARCOS --- Women's Track traveled to San Diego Mesa last Friday, April 6th, to compete in the Arnie Robinson Invitational. The Comets had some good finishes as they competed with several junior colleges, unattached runners, and four-year running club members.

Recording good finishes were Katie Preston, Alexis Morales, Hannah Lopez, Aneesa Stevenson, and Marissa Horton.

The only Comets to record a first place in their heats were Katie Preston and Hannah Lopez. Katie Preston recorded her best 100 meter dash time of the year with a 12.87 goof for first in her heat and 6th overall. In the 200 meter, Katie Preston got second in her heat with a time of 26.66 seconds. Hannah Lopez picked up a first in her heat in the 1500 meter with an overall time of 5:08.40 which was also good for 7th overall. Hannah Lopez also got a 2nd place in her heat in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 12:13.32.

Other Comets to record good scores were Alexis Morales with a 3rd place finish in her heat in the 400 meter with a time of 1:10.13 good for 16th overall.

Aneesa Stevenson got 4th place in the long jump with a 4.49 meter jump on her second attempt. Marissa Horton got 3rd place in the Triple Jump with a distance of 10.68 meters with Aneesa right behind her in 4th with a distance of 9.27 meters.

It was a pretty successful meet for the Comets as they recorded good times and scores on a big stage in front of competitive schools as they look forward to their next meet, a PCAC Prelims event, at San Diego Mesa on April 18th, 2018.
