Women run their way to State; men qualify two

SAN DIEGO, CA (11/8/2019) – Cross country competed in the CCCAA SoCal Regionals over the weekend. The women's team, who is ranked No. 8 in the state finished in eighth place as a team and qualified for the state championship as a team.

The top finisher for the Comets was freshman Alexia Delgadillo who finished with a time of 20:07.7. She finished in 10th place overall. Addison Rose finished in 18th place with a time of 20:26.6. Jolie Beentjes finished with a time of 21:33.6 in 40th place. Sophomore Briana Frain had a time of 22:18.8 to land her in 64th place overall. Mila Beentjes finished in 103rd with a time of 23:29.9. McKenna Brown finished in 151st with a time of 26:09.9 and rounding out the team was Lessli Maldonaldo who finished with a time of 26:10.4 to land her in 153rd place.

The men finished in 20th place and have qualified two runners for the state championship. Miguel Velasquez Campos finished in 76th place with a time of 23:06.1 and Maximus Collier finished with a time of 23:12.3 to finish in 79th place. Christian Tobin finished in 121st place with a time of 24:13.3. Patrick Zimbelmann finished behind him with a time of 23:19.5 to finish in 125th. Robert Carney had a time of 24:46.7, followed by Isaiah Ralph (25:00.8) and Marcus Cummiskey (25:14.7) who finished in 140th, 147th and 151st, respectively.

The CCCAA State Championship will be held on Nov. 23 at Woodwark Park in Fresno, Calif.
