Cross-country has strong showing at Tour de Cuesta in first meet

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (8/30/2019) – Men and women's cross country ran in the Tour de Cuesta meet and the women finished in second place with 50 points and the men finished in third place with 74 points.

The top women finisher for Palomar was freshman Addison Rose who placed sixth overall with a time of 21:51.40 over the challenging course. Freshman, Liliana Prieto finished right behind Rose in seventh place with a time of 22:02.80. Another Freshman standout, Alexia Delgadillo finished in 11th place with a time of 22.21.60. Sophomore Jolie Beentjes finished in 16th place with a time of 23:34.80. Palomar was able to hold the second-place position with a very strong effort by sophomore Brianna Frain who finished as the fifth scorer for Palomar with a 19th place finish and a time of 24:23.60. Sophomore Lessly Maldonado finished in 28th place with a time of 26:39.90. Great showing for the season opener!

The top men's finisher for Palomar was Miguel Velasquez Campos who finished in fifth place with a time of 23:23.60. Robert Carney finished in 10th place with a time of 24:16.00. Patrick Zimbalmann finished in 19th place with a time of 25:48.30. He was followed by freshman Isaiah Ralph who placed 21st covering the course with a time of 26:00.40. The fifth scorer for the team, returning sophomore Marcus Cumminskey finished in 30th place with a time of 27:12.90. Two more freshmen rounded out Palomar's sixth and seventh positions. Aaron Ruiz finished in 35th place with a time of 28:08.70 and Christian Tobin finished in 39th place with 28:51.80. This was a great start for the young Palomar team! This was the first 4-mile race for six of its seven runners.

Palomar will be competing next week on Friday, September 6th at the Palomar Invitational at Guajome Regional Park.
