Comets back in championship match

CHULA VISTA, CA (11/4/2022) -- As the No. 1 seed in the PCAC Championship Tournament, Palomar had a first-round bye and ended up facing Southwestern College on Friday afternoon and won 8-3 to advance to the championship match.

Similar to the first time they played one another, the Comets had a slow start, scoring three goals in the first and another three in the second to take a 6-0 lead at halftime. They tacked on two more in third, and Southwestern scored their day's first goal. The Jaguars outscored the Comets 2-0 in the fourth. 

Sophomore Anna Draves led the Comets with three goals with one assist. Grace Goode and Elena Pena each had two goals. Draves and Pena recorded four steals. 

Palomar advances to the championship match and will face San Diego Mesa College on Saturday afternoon.
