Women crowned PCAC champs after beating Southwestern, Grossmont

CHULA VISTA, CA (11/9/2019) – Women's water polo competed in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship tournament this past weekend and game out on top. They defeated Southwestern College and Grossmont College for the title.

On Friday, they faced Southwestern and won 8-7. Sydni Dickson had four goals against the Jaguars and three assists. Harley Young added three goals herself to the total. Sophie White rounded out the team with one goal. Goalie Julia Miller had 11 saves on 18 shots.

The second day they met Grossmont, who handed the Comets their only loss in conference play earlier in the season. This time Palomar won 9-8. Dickson had three goals, as did Young who also had one steal. White, Ciara Webb and Haley Balch all pitched in with one goal. Miller had an outstanding performance racking up 25 saves on 33 shots.

The women improved to 19-8 overall and 6-1 in conference as they were crowned PCAC Champions and have extended their win streak to 11. They have qualified for the CCCAA SoCal Regionals as the No. 12 seed and will face Citrus College on Thursday at 12:45 at Riverside City College.
