Comets sweep Jags to keep playoff hopes alive

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/11/2022) -- Palomar College faced Southwestern College on Friday night and the Comets swept the Jaguars 3-0 to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Comets and Jags went back and forth in the first two sets, but Palomar pulled out the sets 25-22 and 25-23. It was all Palomar in the third set as they took it 25-15 to complete the sweep.

Freshman Savanna Lewis led the team with 17 kills, while Holland Hancock finished with 13 and Hope Ihem finished with six. Sophomore setter Kenna Broach had 33 assists. Sophomore libero Amaya Garcia recorded 12 digs, leading the team, while Broach, Hanock and Lewis recorded nine, eight and seven, respectively.

Palomar moves to 13-9 overall and 9-6 in PCAC play. They will host MiraCosta College on Monday at 5 p.m. in the Dome.
