Comets lose in four to No. 5 Griffins

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/19/2022) -- In the first match of the second round of conference play, Palomar improved slightly as they got one set win in a 3-1 loss to No. 5 Grossmont College.

The hot-hitting Griffins dominated in set one with a 25-9 victory and continued to roll in set two with a 25-14 win. The Comets, determined to not get swept by the Griffins again, took set three 25-21, but couldn't rally in the fourth and dropped it 25-10 to the Griffins.

Freshman Savanna Lewis led the Comets wth 15 kills, while Holland Hancock had six and sophomore Brynn Wallander added four. Sophomore libero Amaya Garcia led the team with 10 digs and Lewis finished the night with nine.

Palomar moves to 8-7 overall and 4-5 in conference play. They will head to San Diego Mesa College on Friday for a 5 p.m. match.
