Comets come up short in home finale

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/13/2019) – Women's volleyball lost to Imperial Valley College 3-1 in their final home game of the 2019 season.

The Comets lost the first set 25-19. They took control of the second set and won 25-16. In a back and forth third set, the Comets fell 25-20 and in the forced fourth set Imperial Valley won 25-20 in another close one.

The Comets celebrated their five sophomores: Alina Lecakes-Jones, Maile Counts, Zandrea Brown, Emily Lopp and Laurel Kerner. The five put on a show for the fans in their final appearance in the Dome. Lecakes-Jones made sure to bring a hammer as she had a new career-high 22 kills and had a hitting percentage of .314. Counts took some digs and had big hits as well. Brown laid the ball down to nab some points for the Comets. Lopp had beautiful serves for the Comets and Kerner racked up points for the Comets as well. It wasn't all the sophomores, freshman Greta Guzman had a new career-high seven kills on the night, hitting .583 and had six big blocks.

Palomar falls to 3-19 overall and 1-14 in conference and will face Cuyamaca College on Friday for their season finale at 4 p.m. on the road.
