Volleyball falls to City, Imperial Valley

Women's volleyball faced San Diego City College and Imperial Valley College last week and lost both matches 3-0 (SDCC: 25-23, 25-13, 25-23) (IVC: 25-16, 25-19, 25-12).

Alina Lecakes-Jones led the team with eight kills in the City match and 38 total attacks. Zandrea Brown and Sarah Nelson followed with seven kills. Brown had 21 total attacks. Laurel Kerner had three service aces and so did Maile Counts. Lecakes-Jones had 16 digs and Clare Saalfled and Arielle Vannoy had eight. Saalfeld had 10 assists and Carsyn Emerson had 12 assists.

In their second match of the week, Lecakes-Jones recorded 28 total attacks including six kills. Kerner also recorded six kills with 12 total attacks. Maile Counts had 10 digs and three kills. Nelson had two assisted blocks and one kill. Vannoy had eight digs. Saalfeld had 11 assists and one service ace. Emerson had six assists and one service ace.

The women are now 2-12 overall and 0-7 in conference play. They will have Cuyamaca College at home on Wednesday in the Dome at 5 p.m.
