Track advances seven to regional finals

CERRITOS, CA (5/7/2019) – The women's track and field team has seven athletes competing on Saturday at the regional championships.

On May 4th, Jessica Dutton advanced from the prelims to the finals and finished in ninth place in the javelin, missing the podium by one spot.

Jennifer Pedroza, a heptathlete, will be awarded an eighth-place finisher medal. She contested the event at the regional level last month at the CCCAA HEP/DEC regional competition.

Tria Ismay and Pedroza both advanced in the 400M hurdles and will be contesting for a possible spot for a state berth at the finals on Saturday.

Hannah Lopez will be advancing in the 3000M steeplechase on Saturday to also contest for a state berth.

Maia Chaffin competed in the 10,000M final last weekend and will be competing in the 5,000M final on Saturday.

Alicia Zappia will also advance in the long jump at the finals. Jessica Dutton and Ashley Duniphan will be competing in the discus for prelims and finals advancement on Saturday.

The regional finals will be held at Riverside City College on May 11.
