Hat trick and a pretty flick as Comets shutout Bruins

SAN MARCOS, CA (8/30/2022) -- Fresh off a win in their season opener, the Palomar College Comets cruised past the Los Angeles City College Bruins 4-0.

Palomar struck while the iron was hot when Judith Belman scored on an assist from Emma Guevara in the 4th minute to put the Comets on the board. It was the Layla Moore show from there as she recorded her first career hat trick, scoring goals in the 18th, 21st and 43rd minutes. Her first goal came on a pass from Guevara, while her second goal was unassisted. After a set piece by Olivia Albarren that left the goal wide open, Moore knocked it through the net to put the Comets on top 4-0 at halftime.

The Comets' back line helped the Comets secure the shutout, shutting down anything close to the goal for the Bruins, proving they can play both ends of the field effectively. Analyse Rameirez started at goalkeeper again for the Comets and played one half before Ruby Carter made her season debut in the second half.

Palomar moves to 2-0 on the season and will hit the road to face Santa Ana College on Friday for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
