Chelsea Davis named women's soccer head coach

SAN MARCOS, CA (1/8/2021) – Chelsea Davis has been named the head coach for the women's soccer program. Davis comes to Palomar from San Diego Surf, one of the top club soccer teams in the county. Prior to coaching at the competitive club level, Davis was at the University of San Francisco, where she was an assistant for two years.

Hailing from northern California, Davis entered the competitive club world when she was 13. She was recruited to many NCAA DI schools but chose the University of Houston to begin her collegiate career. She then transferred to Fresno State University to finish her schooling.

After finishing her collegiate career, Davis played for the San Francisco Nighthawks before entering the coaching realm. She had the opportunity to be an assistant for the Academy of Art University, an NCAA DII school. Davis then played semi-professionally in Sweden for a year before going to Australia. She was the head coach for the Australia Reserves U20s at the University of Sydney. Heading back to the States, Davis joined the coaching staff at her alma mater, Fresno State. After being there for a couple of seasons, she then moved to USF where she also coached at the club level.

"I'm ready to take the bits and pieces I've learned as an assistant and implement what I've learned," Davis said of being at the helm of her own program.

Palomar is in the right location, has great facilities and has a great culture, Davis said of why she wanted to coach at Palomar. She has a lot of experience recruiting players from all over. She is excited to start getting her team together and begin outlining the team culture. Davis wants her team to be one cohesive unit moving from the spring into the fall season.

"You can go miles as one unit," Davis said.
