Comets take down Dons for second win

Comets fans, friends, alumni, and supporters,

Last night we took on Santa Ana College, a team who beat us 27-21 last Saturday at the Southern California Dual Meet Championships. After only a few days of preparation, the team stepped up big and reversed the result against this tough team.

Final Score:

Palomar 32

Santa Ana 18

While the entire team fought hard, the standouts of the dual were Juan DiazRandy LockwoodBrayan Macias Morales, and Armando Rodriguez.

Juan Diaz appears to be turning a corner in his wrestling. Following two overtime matches with this Santa Ana opponent this year, Juan won this match decisively in regulation. Juan has incredible offense from the neutral position, and with some minor adjustments to his defense, he is on track to reach the next level very quickly.

Randy Lockwood looked incredible in this match, getting the first takedown and then pouring on the offense to get the technical fall on his opponent. This is a massive step for Randy after losing to this same guy in overtime last week.

After giving up an early takedown and getting put to his back in an awkward situation, Brayan Macias Morales reversed his opponent and pinned him to seal the dual meet victory for us. As we tell all of our athletes, good things happen when you're willing to wrestle through every situation!

Armando Rodriguez put on a takedown clinic on his opponent, dominating the match from start to finish. Armando can hang with anyone once he figures out how to get his offense going in every match.

What's Next

Next week, we'll have a dual meet @ Rio Hondo College on October 27th. This matchup will be another great test for our guys. I'm confident that they'll step up and make it a fight!
