Owings places third in first two PCAC matches of 2017 season

SAN JACINTO (9-11-2017) / PALM SPRINGS (9-13-2017) -- Victoria Owings, a freshman from Sheridan High School in Wyoming and the sixth-place finisher in her State 4-A Tournament in 2016, led Palomar's women's golf team in the first two Pacific Coast Athletic Conference matches of 2017 with a pair of third-place finishes.

On Monday, Owings tied for third place, shooting an 86 at Saboba Springs Country Club in the conference's first tournament hosted by Mt. San Jacinto College.

On Wednesday, she came back to finish third by herself with an 80 iin the PCAC's second tournament at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Springs, hosted by Collge of the Desert.

COD's Lichi Liu won both marches' medalist honors with back-go-back 4-over par 76 scores.

Cuyamaca took home team honors on Monday with a 342 score, followed by COD at 365, Mt. San jacinto at 401 and the Comets at 409. The Coyotes won on Wednesday aith a 335 score, followed by COD at 376, Mt. San Jacinto at 396, winning a tie-breaker with the Comets who also had a 396.

Palomar's other scorers Monday were Vandella Lunde with a 103, Abby Corona 110 and Michalle Delacruzlina 116. Lunde shot a 102 on Wednesday, 2ith Delacruzluna at 103and Corona at 105.

Team standings after two matches find Cuyamaca at 6-0, COD at 4-2, Mt. San Jac at 2-4 and Palomar at 0-6.
