Comets open conference with a win over Knights

SAN MARCOS, CA (1/10/2024) -- The Palomar Women's Basketball team opened their conference campaign with a 68-44 over San Diego City College on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Faith Brinkman led the Comets with 17 points behind a 5-11 night at the 3-point line. Sophomore guard Makenzie Kozina continued her MVP campaign with 16 points, six rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks. Naveah Mageo rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 of her own going 4-14 in the field. Sophomore Rokhaya Cisse finished with a career-high eight assists, along with four rebounds, four steals and five points.

Palomar was perfect at the free-throw line going 9-9 and shot 39.3% in the field. The Comets won the rebounding battle 37-30 and caused 37 turnovers to score 43 points. 

The Comets advance to 13-4 overall and 1-0 in conference. They will travel to Grossmont College on Friday night for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
