Comets win Charger Classic

CYPRESS, CA (12/3/2023) -- The Palomar College Women's Basketball won the 40th Annual Charger Classic over the weekend with a 78-61 victory over Modesto College to improve to 9-0 on the season.

The two teams were locked in a tight battle, but thanks to a big second and third quarter for the Comets, they were able to pull out the win.

Freshman Angeline Valdivia, the tournament MVP, went off for 22 points, going 8-13 in the field, while Rokhaya Cisse, an All-Tournament selection, led the Comets with 23 points. Cisse got to the free-throw line a total of numerous times, finishing 7-11 on the night. Mackenzie Kozina and Valdivia combined for 10 steals, five each, while Cisse recorded three. Sophomore Faith Brinkman led the Comets with five rebounds, all defensive, while Valdivia and Kozina each had four. Kozina and Angelina De Leon each had two blocks in the championship game.

The Comets have a week off before returning to action at Moorpark College for a three-day crossover event. Their first game will be December 14.
