Comets advance to 4-0 with win over Bulldogs

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/17/2023) -- On night one of the Comet Classic, Palomar College faced Allan Hancock College and advanced to 4-0 on the season with a 63-46 victory over the Bulldogs. 

Sophomore Mackenzie Kozina led the team with her second double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds. She also totaled three assists and two steals. Lacee Silva and Rokhaya Cisse were the only other two double-digit scorers with 12 each. Cisse finished with two rebounds, five steals, and an assist. Brianna Matthews nearly missed out on her first double-double, finishing with seven points, 10 rebounds and an assist. Angelina De Leon also finished with 10 rebounds and four points. 

The Comets and Bulldogs kept it close through the first quarter, with Palomar coming out on top 18-12, but Palomar took control of the second quarter to extend their lead at halftime. The Bulldogs responded quickly in the third, outscoring the Comets 15-10, but Palomar pulled away in the fourth to secure the win. 

Palomar moves to 4-0 on the season and will face East LA College tomorrow night at 6 p.m. in the Dome.
