Comtes dominate in season opener

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/1/2023) -- No. 2 Palomar College opened its season with a 86-44 win over LA Trade-Tech College in the Dome.

The Comets dominated from the start of the game, but a big second quarter helped lift the Comets over the Beavers. Sophomore guard Faith Brinkman led the Comets with 26 points, going 8-22 at the 3-point line. Sophomore guard Rokhaya Cisse finished with 16 points, finishing 4-5 at the charity stripe, and freshman guard Naveah Mageo also finished with 16 points, going 6-17 in the field. Sophomore guard Mackenzie Kozina finished with a career-high 20 rebounds, 10 of them offensive, and four assists, two steals nad one block. Sophomore guard Evelyn Terraza and CIsse both finsihed with six assists. Palomar committed just 10 turnovers and caused 29 and followed up with 29 points scored off the turnovers. The Comets totaled 51 rebounds to the Beavers' 40. 

The Comets start the season 1-0 and will compete in the Mt. San Jacinto College Crossover event November 9th and 10th. They will face Long Beach City College on Thursday at 4 p.m. and Antelope Valley College at 11 a.m. on Friday morning.
