Sroufe breaks record as Comets roll past Jags

SAN MARCOS, CA (2/3/2023) -- It was a night like no other as sophomore Camille Sroufe broke the record for most threes in a game at 10 as the Comets rolled past the Southwestern College Jaguars 103-58.

Sroufe for three!

Give the assist to Deajanae Harvey!

As the Comets jumped out a 7-0 nothing lead, everyone could feel the electricity in the air.

Sroufe for three! Assist and steal by Kayla Williams!

Everyone knew something was brewing when Sroufe hit her first three treys of the game. Then she hit another one. And another. She was 6-7 at beyond the arc at the end of the first quarter. She needed only three more to tie once again the record, which she had done earlier this season, but she wanted four more. At halftime, she was 8-10.

It wouldn't be until the fourth quarter when Faith Schwantner found Sroufe and her teammates screened her as she made the record-breaking three. As soon as the ball swished through the net the crowd erupted as Sroufe couldn't help but smile and cheer for herself. Her teammates jumped out of their chairs on the bench and started cheering for her.

Sroufe finished with 30 points and was 10-17 at the three-point line. She led all scorers. Harvey finished with 26 points as she was 12-23 in the field. She finished with 11 assists, five of which went to Sroufe. She also totaled six rebounds and six steals. Williams finished with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal.

The Comets advance to 24-0 overall and 10-0 in conference play. They will host Imperial Valley College on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Dome.
