Comets stun Beavers on opening night

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/2/2021) – The Comets opened their season at home on Tuesday night with a 78-54 victory over the LA Trade Tech College Beavers.

After a slow start to the game, the Comets kicked it into gear and rattled off 20 points in the first quarter, thanks in large part to freshman Deajanae Harvey and sophomore Ariana Pagan who finished the night with 24 and 14 points, respectively. Palomar continued their traditional dominance outscoring Trade Tech 17-8 in the second quarter. Freshman Rory Hetrick was the spark off the bench for the Comets scoring 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Comet defense proved effective causing Trade Tech to turn the ball over 31 times to lead to 32 points. Freshman Faith Schwantner had seven steals on the night, while Harvey racked up five. Harvey also had two blocks on the night.

Palomar is set to face Chaffey College on Nov. 11 in the Lion's Club Tip-Off Crossover hosted by Mt. San Jacinto College. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
