Comets rock the Dome in 80-70 win

SAN MARCOS, CA (2/28/2020) – In Round Two of the California Community College Athletic Association SoCal Regional Playoffs, Palomar faced LA Trade-Tech College and won 80-70.

The Dome was rocking as the women put on a show in front of family, program alumni, numerous local high school teams and fans.

Sophomore guard Nikki Mayoral lead the Comets with 18 points on the night going 5-15 in the field and 6-8 at the free-throw line. Aaliyah Taylor, another sophomore guard, scored 17 points for the Comets to go along with three rebounds, one assist and one steal. She was 3-6 at the 3-point line and a perfect 4-4 at the charity stripe. Sophomore guard, Melena Bland was the only other Comet in double-digit scoring racking up 16 to go along with five rebounds and two assists. Sophomore guard Taylor Williams played her part dishing out eight assists to her teammates and scoring five of her own. He also had three rebounds and one steal. Lilly Crabtree was the leading rebounder crashing the boards hard for seven and shot 4-5 in the field for eight points.

The Comets committed only eight turnovers, tied for their lowest amount of the season and caused the Beavers to turn it over 13 times.

Palomar improves to 26-3 on the season and moves to the Sweet 16 round of the tournament and will play the winner of the No. 4 Glendale/No. 13 East Los Angeles College game on Saturday, March 7.
