Comets push past Olympians for 70-51 victory

SAN DIEGO, CA (2/19/2020) – Palomar continues to roll in conference play with a 70-51 win over San Diego Mesa College on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Nikki Mayoral led all Comets with 25 points going 5-7 at the 3-point line and 4-4 at the free throw line. She also had two rebounds, three assists and one steal. Aaliyah Taylor finished the night with 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal. Julie Saelee was the final Comet in double-digits scoring 10 points and grabbing three rebounds. Taylor Williams finished the night with three rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block to go along with five points. Lilly Crabtree had seven boards for the Comets and two steals.

Palomar shot 40.7 percent in the field compared to Mesa's 29.3 percent. The Comets won the rebounds battle nabbing 35 to Mesa's 30. The women committed 14 turnovers and caused 17.

The Comets improve to 24-3 overall and 9-2 in conference play. Their conference finale will be Friday, Feb. 21 at Southwestern for a 6 p.m. tip.
