Softball to host Citrus for regionals

SAN MARCOS, CA 4/29/2019 – Palomar will host the No. 14/15 seeded Citrus on Friday for round one of the CCCAA state playoffs. The Comets will be seeded No. 3.

The two teams have played each other twice this season, with Palomar winning both, 4-2 and 8-0 in five innings.

The hot-hitting Comets have six players who bat over .400, leading the way is Sarah Fisher (.488) and Megan Wachholtz (.474). Rylee Penrod leads the team in home runs with six on the season.

In the pitching circle, the Comets have a combined ERA of 1.69. Catalina Aguilar lead the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference with 119 strikeouts and Allie Hughen also lead the conference with her ERA average of 0.55.

Palomar is coming into the game with a 15-game winning streak and a 20-1 home record.

The two teams will be playing in a best of three with the first game being Friday, May 3 at 2 p.m. Game two will be Saturday, May 4 at 12 p.m. and if necessary, game three will be played at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
