Comets drop close one to Jags; play for third place

CHULA VISTA, CA (11/4/2022) -- After winning their first match, Palomar advanced to face Southwestern College, but couldn't hang on as the Jaguars went on to win 12-10, putting the Comets in the third-place match.

The two teams were tied heading into the second quarter, but the Jaguars were dominant, scoring five unanswered goals to take a 9-4 halftime lead. Palomar regrouped and was able to score three goals in the third to their two and tacked on three more in the fourth, but the second quarter put the Jags over the edge.

Arleigh Williams led the Comets with three goals and one steal. Torin Carss and Josh Farner each had two goals. Aiden Rule continued his defensive prowess and recorded four steals, Sam Lawrence recorded two.

With the loss, Palomar finds themselves in the third-place match against San Diego Mesa which will be played Saturday morning.
