Water polo picks up first conference win over Southwestern

CHULA VISTA, CA (10/2/2019) – Men's water polo defeated Southwestern College 17-14 in their second conference match of the season.

The Comets scored five goals in the first quarter, four in the second, third and fourth quarters. Kevin McCollum had five goals on the day with three steals and one assist. Byrce Sammons had three goals. Zane Bentley, Matt Kraszulyak, Truman Irion and Matt Corradetti had two goals each. Janson Barela found the net one time.

Defensively, Kraszulyak, Irion and Parker Somes all had one steal. Zac Lemly recorded two steals. Dalton DeSpain recorded seven saves on 21 shots as goalie.

The men are now in third place in conference with a 1-1 record and an overall record of 6-7. The Comets are competing in the Cerritos College Mini Tournament this weekend.
