Men fall short to Mesa in home opener

SAN MARCOS, CA (9/25/2019) – The men faced San Diego Mesa College in their home and conference opener and lost 19-14.

Truman Irion had five goals for the Comets and Kevin McCollum had three.Matt Kraszulyak had two goals. Zac Lemly, Nate Tayloe, Ryan Bowe-McLeod and Zane Bentley all had one goal. Bentley had four assists, Lemly had two, and Rielly Gillum and Bowe-McLeod had one.

Defensively, Kraszulyak, Irion, McCollum and Taylor all had one steal. Lemly had two. Goalie Dalton DeSpain had 14 saves on 33 shots in four quarters and also recorded one steal.

The men are now 4-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play. This weekend they are in the South of the Border tournament at San Diego Miramar College and San Diego Mesa College where they will face El Camino, Fullerton, Rio Hondo and UCSD Club.
