Comets fall to Griffins

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/26/2024) -- Palomar College hosted Grossmont College in the second round of conference play on Tuesday night and lost 3-0.

The Comets kept in close in every set, especially in sets one (25-23) and two (25-21). Grossmont pulled away in the third, but only slightly as they took the set 25-19 and the match 3-0.

Asher Palpallatoc led the Comets with 12 kills and finished with nine digs and one block. Aiden Scripps chipped in nine kills along with six digs. Jimmy Chavez led the team with 12 digs at the libero position. Ethan Davis finished with 25 assists and three digs. Jack Vermaak and Ty Bargfrede each finished with two blocks. 

Palomar falls to 4-11 and 0-6 in conference play. They will face San Diego Mesa College on Wednesday at 6 p.m. on the road.
