In his 15th year of coaching at Palomar College, Jem McAdams has elevated the Comets into the Upper echelon of the competitive Orange Empire Conference and state prominence.

After finishing first in the conference dual meet schedule for men in 2003, Palomar placed first in the conference championships, placed sixth in the state community college meet in 2003, and the men placed 5th in the state in 2005.

 Before coming to Palomar, McAdams coached 16 years at Golden West College, winning seven titles in 7 years as head coach of the Rustlers' women's swim team. He also served as assistant coach of the men's swim and water polo teams.

McAdams, who prepped at Fountain Valley High School, was a community college water polo All-American at Golden West when the Rustlers' finished third and fourth in the 1972 and 1973 state tournaments. Transferring to Cal State Fullerton, he was an all-conference water polo player, helping the Titans to fourth place in the 1974 NCAA tournament.

Jem lives in Vista with his wife Terri and four children Ryan, Troy, Andra, and Jana... and their wonder dog Comet, who was found at the Palomar pool.
