Taylor diving champ, men finish in 7th

LOS ANGELES, CA (5/7/2022) -- Palomar sent three women and five men to the CCCAA State Swim and Dive Championships. The men finished in seventh place with a total of 195 points, while the women finished 29th, both out of 40 teams. 

Donovan Taylor won the 3-meter dive and placed second in the 1-meter. Tim Godin finished third in the 500 Freestyle (4:37.99) and 200 Freestyle (1:42.19) and placed 15th in the 100 Freestyle (47.59). Jacob Rochman had two top-ten finishes, 400 Individual Medley (6th, 4:10.04) and the 200 Butterfly (10th, 1:58.29). He finished in 12th place in the 200 Backstroke. Kevin Brunia also had two top-ten finishes. The first was a ninth place finish in the 100 Breaststroke (58.66) and 10th in the 100 BUtterfly (51.71). He finished in 12th in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 21.40. Rochman, Brunia, Godin, and Jeremy Lovgren were the relay teams for the Comets this season. In that order, they had a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:35.58. They finished in 11th for both the 200 and 400 Freestyles and broke the top ten for an eighth place finish in the 400 Medley.

On the women's side, Sydni Dickon had a 12th place finish in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:05.71. Elena Pena swam three events. She had one top ten finish, the 200 Individual Medley, where she finished ninth with a time of 2:15.30. Pena finished in 13th and 14th places in the 100 Breaststroke (1:10.99) and the 100 Freestyle (56.04). Emily Gornall finished in 14th in the 3-meter dive.
