Palomar brings thunder against Imperial Valley

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/11/2022) -- Palomar faced Imperial Valley College on Tuesday evening and won 4-0 following an hour weather delay.

With the thunderclouds rising higher and higher and moving closer and closer, the Comets chose to not mess around. Carlos Elizondo scored the first goal at the 13-minute mark on a pass from Eddie Villagrana. Then Villagrana scored off an assist from Cesar Velasquez in the 25th minute to move to 2-0.

That's when the rain began to fall.

The players took the field to start the second half and got through five minutes before moving into a lightning delay that stopped the game for an hour.

Re-emerging from their vehicles, the Comets kept pushing forward. Diego Picano scored off an assist from Thomas Marques in the 65th minute to take a 3-0 lead. Marius Anquetil then scored on another assist from Marques in the 69th minute for the final goal of the game.

The Comets move to 7-3-3 overall and 4-1 in PCAC play. They have an off day on Friday and will be back in action on Tuesday when they head to San Diego City College for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
