Comets declaw Jags in bounce back win

CHULA VISTA, CA (10/4/2022) -- Trying to bounceback after a 3-0 shutout loss to MiraCosta College on Friday night, Palomar hit the road to face Southwestern College and won 3-1 to move to 2-1 in PCAC play.

The Comets and Jaguars were stuck in a stalemate until Southwestern found the net in the 36th minute to make it 1-0 heading into halftime. Palomar needed to make adjustments in the second half.

And adjustments they made. Freshman Diego Picano tied it up in the 49th minute off a pass from Adrian Ibarra. Then sophomore Eddie Villagrana connected a pass from Picano to take a 2-1 lead in the 58th minute. Nine minutes later, Picano found the net again, this time on an assist from freshman Alex Vidican to take a 3-1 lead.

Palomar moves to 5-3-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play. They will face conference leader Cuyamaca College on Friday for a 3 p.m. kickoff on the road.
