Comets bring magic under the lights

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/20/2021) -- With something to prove, the Comets took on San Diego Mesa College on Tuesday night and walked off the pitch with a 3-2 win to collect their second conference win.

The Comets controlled the entire game playing in Mesas half of the field. The first goal came from Mario Lopez on a penalty kick seconds after a goal by Sewai Kawano was waved off.

That's when Josef Duneas turned it on. Scoring off a header in the 65th minute and then again in the 81st minute, he was one goal short of a hat trick. His goals came off assists from Henry Galindo and Alex Cisneros, respectively.

The Comets are now 5-7-1 overall and 2-4 in PCAC play. The team still has a shot at a conference title moving into the second half of play. They will head to MiraCosta College on Friday. Game start is scheduled for 3:30.
