Men tie with Southwestern, move to fifth in PCAC
SAN MARCOS, CA (10/25/2019) – Men's soccer faced Southwestern College and were looking for a win after tying with them in the first round, the two evenly matched teams tied again, this time 2-2.
Arturo Soltero scored in the ninth minute of the game on an assist from Shem Nikiza. The Comets led 1-0 until the 60-minute mark when Southwestern tied it up. Soltero found the net again at the 82-minute mark this time on assist from Christian Bahena to take the lead. In the last minute Southwestern tied it up again to make the score 2-2.
Nikiza received a yellow card at the 30-minute mark and another one at the 90-minute mark, which turned into a red card. Those are his third yellow cards and first red card of the season. He will sit out the next game.
The men are now 6-5-5 overall and 2-2-3 in conference play. The Comets are currently sitting in fifth place ahead of San Diego Mesa College and Imperial Valley College in the conference. They will face Cuyamaca on Tuesday at 3 p.m. on the road.
