Comets pick up first conference win on the road

IMPERIAL, CA (10/8/2019) -- Men's soccer broke their four-game tie streak with a 6-0 win over Imperial Valley College. Mario Lopez scored the first goal for the Comets on an assist from Christian Bahena. Henrique Rubim then scored at the 23-minute mark on an assist from Lopez. Then in the second half, Bryan Covarrubias scored the third goal for the Comets on an assist from Shem Nikiza and a minute late, John Bernal scored. Jacob Stutzman scored on a penalty kick and Rubim scored his second goal on the day at the 89-minute mark on an assist from Lopez.

The Comets are now 5-3-4 overall and 1-0-2 in conference play. The men are in third place in conference play behind Cuyamaca College and Southwestern College, both of whom they have tied 1-1 in the first two conference matches. Their next game will be on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. when the men play San Diego City College at home.
