Comets back in win column

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/25/2023) -- Palomar College responded to their 10-point loss the night before with a 79-61 victory over LA City College to conclude the Palomar Thanksgiving Crossover Event.

The Comets needed a spark and Tore-Andre Gray was given the opportunity to do just that. He led all scorers with 23 points, shooting 4-5 from beyond the arc and finished with six rebounds. He also totaled three assists, a team-high four steals and two blocks on the night. Spivey Word chipped in 21 points of his own and dished out seven assists to go along with four rebounds and three steals. Kryztian Walton rounded out the double-digit scorers with 16, going a perfect 4-4 at the line and 6-9 in the field. 

Palomar won every battle it needed to win. Despite being dead even on the boards, each team finished with 36 total rebounds, the Comets caused 24 turnovers, coverting to 27 points, and shot 66.7 percent at the free-throw line. 

The Comets advance to 5-2 on the season and will head to Grossmont College for their annual tournament. Palomar will face LA Trade-Tech College on Friday at 3 p.m.
