Comets come from behind to win big

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/17/2023) -- Down nine at halftime, the Palomar College men's basketball team scored 64 points in the second half to defeat the Golden West College Rustlers 89-65. 

Spivey Word scored 26 points, leading all scorers, while Beni Mokili came off the bench to score 14. Kyrztian Walton and Jason Ezeadiugwu both had 11 and Michael Clark Jr. finished with 10. Walton recorded his third double-double of the season with 12 rebounds, six offensive. Joseph Ogbebor also had 12 rebounds to go along with two assists, one steal, a block and seven points. 

As a team, the Comets shot 42.4 percent from the arc and 46.4 percent in the field. They committed 17 turnovers and caused 14, but were able to score 16 points off the turnovers. 

Palomar moves to 4-1 overall and will host their annual Thanksgiving Crossover Event next weekend. They will face Orange Coast College in game one at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24.
