Palomar runs away with victory over Desert

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/7/2023) -- Palomar College hosted College of the Desert on Tuesday night and walked out with a 98-81 victory. 

In a physical, shifty game, Spivey Word led all Comets, for the second game in a row, with 22 points. Brandon Andrews finished with 17, while Jaden Mathis recorded his first double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Adam Sevier ended the night with three steals and 13 points, while Collin Grant had two assists, four steals and 12 points. 

Palomar showed improvement in their shot selection, shooting 52.2% in the field (35-67) and 78.3% at the free-throw line. The Comets once again outrebounded their opponent, this time 38-27, 12 of which were offensive and converted into 16 points. Palomar committed 27 turnovers and caused 28 and scored 29 points. 

The Comets improve to 2-1 and will travel to Victor Valley College on Wednesday, November 15th for a 6 p.m. tip off.
